Pseudobulbar affect (PBA) is characterized by involuntary, sudden, and frequent episodes of crying and/or laughing. PBA symptoms occur in approximately 36% of patients with certain neurologic conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, stroke, and traumatic brain injury.2
