Electronic Event Reporting System Update
In order to improve efficiency for both the providers and the Department, the Department of Health strongly encourages facilities to provide the name/birth dates in the Factual Description field and to utilize the social security number as the identifier in the Resident ID field.
Without the above identifiers, facility and Department time is wasted having to track down the information via telephone.
(Note: ERS is a secure system.)

Attached you will find the guidance for the submission of Provider Bulletin 22 (PB-22) forms electronically when the event type submitted via the Event Reporting System is Abuse, Neglect, Rape, or Misappropriation of Property. This new enhancement provides a more expedient method to collect and submit the many required data elements and documentation. The implementation of this enhancement is August 9, 2011. This is a document in its infancy, and it will be revised to meet the needs of the facilities and the DOH reviewers whenever necessary. Click Here

Act 95 of the Legislative Session of 2001 requires the Department of Health to provide a report to the General Assembly in March 2011 regarding the administration of annual influenza and pneumococcal immunizations in Pennsylvania nursing care facilities for calendar years 2008, 2009, and 2010. In order to do this, the DOH must have a completed immunization questionnaire for 2010 from all active facilities by 1/31/11. Please refer to the DOH message board dated 12/29/10 for specifics.

On Friday, December 17, 2010, there was an educational conference call discussion titled, “Management of flu outbreaks in LTCF”. Please refer to the PA Dept. of Health message board dated 12/31/10. It includes attachments of the Power Point presentations that were utilized during this conference call. The call discussed influenza outbreak management and infection control guidelines.
